Defining
Motivation
How do you
define motivation? Most dictionaries define motivation as
taking action or moving. Motivation to most people is the
ability to go beyond self and push yourself to accomplish
certain goals and desires. There must be a driving force that
initiates certain behaviors when you define motivation.
Motivation takes an inner resolve to make a change or to get
something done in order to achieve it.
There are
different types of motivation that would define the term in a
broader context. A few that can be mentioned are
self-motivation, achievement motivation, and attitude
motivation.
Self-motivation is what most people use to define
motivation at its highest peak of accomplishments. If you are
able to motivate yourself and reach your goals, you would have
conquered the ability to be disciplined and will accomplish
anything you put your mind to.
The key to
becoming self-motivated is persistence. Persistence is the
ability to stay focused despite any challenges. It requires an
inner resolve to step outside of self and find something from
deep within that you may not have known was even
there.
Motivation is
very important to all decisions that you have to make. Without
the ability to stay motivated and take the necessary, you will
not accomplish your goals. Your life will be an endless cycle
of going around in
circles.
What is
Motivation To You?
What is
motivation to you? In reality, motivation is an inner process
that helps you to move toward your goal in definite motion,
with purpose and vision. Drive and determination are two
qualities necessary to experience real
motivation.
Some people
allow different things to motivate them. It could be your job,
your marriage, your family, your income or the possibility of
wealth. What is motivation to you?
If you can find
out what is motivating to you, then you can tap into your true
potential and hone in on exactly what it takes to succeed. One
way to become motivated is to create a vision that is realistic
and to focus on achieving it with an inner desire that
outweighs any challenges.
Since
motivation is parallel to the word, “move,” lack of motivation
is when your life is at a standstill. This equates to fear of
failure and this is what keeps people who lack motivation
essentially stuck in the same pattern every day of their
lives.
You can tell a
motivated person when you see one. They have that sparkle in
their eye and are always looking for new challenges and ways to
grow. Growth is synonymous with motivation and the ability to
stay focused even when the going gets
tough.
