How Different are Successful
People?
Have you ever watched in awe a highly successful person on TV,
wondering what makes that person so great? Have you wondered
how certain girls or boys become so popular in your school,
when you are struggling with making and maintaining two
friends? Have you ever wondered what makes successful people
successful?
The Basic Characteristics of Successful People
Many factors make the successful people stand out in a crowd.
One of the most obvious traits is an unflinching
self-confidence. Successful people always believe in themselves
and in what they want to do; they do so with such a passion
that others around them start believing it too.
Take the example of the Wright brothers who wanted to construct
a machine that flew. They believed that it was possible in
spite if the skepticism of the world at large; and in the end
they were successful. Take another example, Thomas Edison, who
worked so hard to make the light bulb. Everyone else gave up
but he kept on, and because of his self-confidence and
determination, today we have electric bulbs.
Successful people are always hard working. It is very common
for successful people to work 18 hours a day every day of the
year. What others take as workaholism, is a way of life for
them. They work so hard not because they are chasing success,
but because they are very passionate about their work.
‘Passion’ is another major trait that you will find in all the
successful people. These people are normal people like you and
me, but driven with extraordinary determination to achieve
their goals, whatever this may be. Their success is measured
through their determination and perseverance to achieve this
goal at all costs. You will notice that in most cases
successful people do not have a real family life. If they do,
the thanks would always go to a supportive spouse or life
partner.
This is mainly because no man or woman can be passionate about
two things at the same time in their lives. So, when they are
married to their work, they divorce everything else. As their
efforts meet with success, they become more and more engrossed
in their quest and forget everything else.
They say everything has a price in life – and this the price
successful people pay for their achievements. However, ask each
one of them, if they were given a second chance in life would
they live any different? The answer will always be, ‘Never in a
million of
years!’
