While showing off the shape of your body isn't necessarily a bad thing, when it comes to dressing for success in the office workplace, keeping it tasteful and professional is a must. For example, choosing a dress with a plunging V-neckline might show off what you physically have to offer, it also gives the impression to others that you have very little to bring to the table mentally or through experience. Instead, choose something with a more natural neckline, such as a button down shirt, where the top button or two is unfastened. That way, you come across as being both professional and easy to approach, which is a winning combination.

The Second Dressing Tactic to Avoid: Mismatched Clothing

Believe it or not, dressing for success does include maintaining a well put together appearance. While you might not really care if one of your socks is navy blue while the other is black, someone during the day will notice it. It could be the local mailman, or unfortunately it could be your boss. Mismatched clothing indicates that your attention to detail and willingness to make an effort is suspect.
